Bovine babesiosis is a major tick-borne disease of cattle caused by protozoan parasites (Babesia spp). Out of at least six Babesia species that have a considerable impact on livestock health and productivity, two species, Babesia bovis and Babesia bigemina have the greatest affect. In cattle, B. bigemina can cause massive destruction of the red blood cells leading to severe anaemia and hemoglobinuria. This result in red urine (due to haemoglobin in urine) and the disease can kill a cow within a week.
VetPCR? B.bigemina Detection Kit is the direct detection of Babesia bigemina on the basis of a genetic database, so it can diagnose very fast and accurately. It can amplify only specific gene using the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) method, and take only 3 hours for detection. Therefore, it is a very fast, accurate, reliable technique.
