Swine vesicular disease is a contagious disease of pigs, caused by an enterovirus (Swine vesicular disease virus, SVDV) and characterised by vesicles on the coronary bands, heels of the feet and occasionally on the lips, tongue, snout and teats. Swine vesicular disease can be a subclinical, mild or severe vesicular condition depending on the strain of virus involved, the route and dose of infection, and the husbandry conditions under which the pigs are kept.
